Sowed this “I’ve Got Clay” native mix from OPN three years ago on shitty clay soil the builder threw in here post-construction. He was gonna seed and straw whatever nightmare they use. I said NO THANKS. 3 years in, have done a thing but pull occasional johnson grass. Couldn’t be happier. ♥️♥️♥️

That’s my goal too.
It’s still beneficial to periodically mow/burn a quarter to a third of your planted area every few years to remove thatch, reduce the population of any existing parasites (parasitic wasps, bees, mites, fungus) and increase diversity of available habitat.
Some insect predators and their prey prefer open ground for nesting. Then as you rotate the previously cut area regrow! It can provide area for any annuals and short lived perennials to recolonize!
