Their advice reads: “Try to water early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler – this stops too much water evaporating before it can reach the roots. Your grass may start to look dry in warm weather, but don’t panic. Most grass bounces back with a bit of rain. Letting your grass grow a little longer can help it hold onto moisture and cope better in dry conditions.”

Another handy tip is to trim back faded blooms, which not only spurs more growth but also keeps your garden looking tidy and well-maintained.

Feeding your flowers with a fertilizer once a week can make a world of difference in extending their lifespan and keeping your plants in peak health.

As we bask in the peak of summer with the UK enjoying continuous sunshine, it’s wise to look ahead to autumn for maintaining a lively garden.

The RHS advises gardeners to be mindful during watering sessions. According to their guidance: “Watering in the heat of the day is not a good idea as much water is lost through evaporation from the surface of the soil, and the plants will use water more efficiently if watered in the cooler parts of the day.”

Furthermore, the society recommends morning watering routines, and notes that evening watering is also effective because “the cooler conditions mean less water is lost to evaporation.”
