I had purchased four plants from a seller on Palm Street. When I got them, I realized that he had put too much water into the moss and it rotted all of the roots. I had to trim away, basically all of the roots except a small knob on one of them . And in fact, I had to dig into the main node to take out the rot that had penetrated into one of them. The seller is telling me that he was inexperienced with these plants and would refund me if they died. I really don’t want to take on a rehab project for the amount of money I spent on these four plants. There were two aurea monsteras, one Thai con monster, and a violin. What do you think I should do? 😭😭😭😭

In my country the seller would have to refund you, you should check what laws in your region.

Cut off all the rotten roots, let the plant dry a few hours and then place in water with a few many drops of hydrogenperoxide. Change water every few days until you see new root growth.

    I mean that’s a LOT of rot.

A rehab project isn’t what you paid for. I’d at least ask for a partial refund and if they die then a full one later

I don’t think that happened in shipping. I would think they would have had to ship in a baggie of water for that kind of rot. But I’m still fairly new to plant collecting.

Refund. Those have low chances of surviving.

I squeezed the moss and water poured out of my hand. I don’t think they know how to care for aroids.

I got an aurea cutting a while ago that was the same way. I cut off the dead roots and stuck it in stratum, and it grew new roots and is doing great. Same with a Philodendron Orange Princess. If they give you a refund and dont make you ship them back, you should try it.

Get a refund and send em to me, easy enough to save that, even get a few cuts out of them.

Totally fair if you can’t be bothered though – you should be refunded immediately.

I mean there is nothing you can do to save that plant. But try to get a refund from the seller

I’m surprised there is a seller on Palmstreet who isn’t experienced with these plants and yet Is selling them….
For sellers they are common plants.
The only thing that might have contributed to rapid rotting would maybe be If it was left in an extremely hot place for too long

They look like recent imports, and that would explain their lack of experience and the bad condition- I bet they tried to immediately flip an already unhappy import- also yeah the moss being super wet is definitely bad.

Dang… next time shop with someone reputable. I always use succaameup on whatnot – actually just bought their albo double window monstera and áurea monstera . Very satisfied. I’m sorry you got this 💩
