I did that the other day to a small aster plant. Some non native weeds had grown in next to it and accidentally took the aster with it. Fortunately there was enough root still attached and I replanted it.

I did that with my geranium maculatum bare roots lol. Was not expecting them to be popping up just a few weeks after I planted!

Had a near miss because my penstemon plugs look like plantain. That was enough gardening for one day!

I did this last year with a milkweed stem that I hadn’t even realized had emerged from the previous year and was just in “weed pull zone”. I frantically replanted it with a nice watering and shockingly it lived!

Me this past spring with all the natives I direct planted from seed May 2024 and assumed never germinated and forgot all about until after pulling them 😭😭

I am experiencing a new effect of native landscaping: seed relocation by wildlife.
Exhibit A: sacrificial day Lilly best by the mailbox. I think it be goldenrod volunteer.

I got wild senna seeds from the Cherokee Nation SeedBank this year & legit pulled out the only seedling in the container because I was confused about which were senna. I wanted to cry bc those seeds are culturally important & I can’t believe I was so stupid!
Luckily, 4 more seedlings have popped up & are doing well + my Job’s Tears from the Nation are doing well. I planted neither in the ground, due to them not being native to my state (senna is native all around MN but not native in the state), but I’m so pleased to be growing Cherokee plants!

Killed my gumweed this way in the spring… also snapped a couple milkweed stems, but that’s spreading like crazy in our yard, so not a total loss.
