Dehydrated air plant, need advice

This is my first air plant. Its colors have dulled and it has become dry/brittle, but it's still a bit green near the base so I hope it can be saved. The seller told me to mist it once a week, but I suspect it will need proper soakings to stay hydrated. How long/often should I soak it in order for it to stay healthy? I live in a dry area (Nevada) and I see soaking times vary between 20 minutes and 2 hours between posts, so I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated
