A garden party with a purpose will take place Tuesday, Aug. 26, as Leadership Dorchester 2025 hosts the “Garden Tea Party for Good” in support of Beyond Basic, a local nonprofit that serves adults with intellectual disabilities.
The event is 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Beyond Basic’s headquarters, located at 406 N. Gum St. in Summerville.
Attendees will enjoy live music, light bites, tea-inspired refreshments, and walkthroughs of the current outdoor space and project plans. A silent auction will raise money for the initiative.
Leadership Dorchester 2025 selected Beyond Basic as its class project partner and aims to revitalize the nonprofit’s outdoor area into a space that promotes learning, wellness and connection.
“Leadership Dorchester 2025 is proud to partner with Beyond Basic, a local nonprofit supporting adults with intellectual disabilities,” the group stated. “Through this fundraiser, we aim to revitalize their outdoor space—creating an inclusive, engaging environment that fosters well-being, learning, and community connection for their teammates.”
Proceeds from the event will directly support the redesign and improvement of the space, helping create a welcoming environment tailored to the needs of Beyond Basic’s participants.
