Sorry for the terrible photo can’t seem to post the video.

I have a patch of garden I’m trying to clear and there is a small section where there seems to be a miner bee hive.

I’m planning on leaving it until the summer ends but does anyone have experience of how I can ethically move it would killing bees.

Not much help except I thought they were solo bees…

Thats a bumble bee, not a miner bee. Small colony of 30 usually. Let them bee if you can. Fuzzy friends. They will buzz of end of season but lovely to have them

In my experience they will nest where there are natural defences like under a root system, large rocks or shallow foundations. Leave the hole undisturbed but otherwise carry on with your business.

I found a good paper on the nesting habit of ground nesting bees. Maybe have a scan and see if they regularly change locations and you can dig here where they naturally move on.

Again, in my experience they don’t reuse the same holes but I know next to nothing about bees and am probably wrong about all of it 🙂

Any chance that you could just leave them there and not disturb them?

It’s so nice to see someone so thoughtful like this.
