Housemate moved in with a strawberry plant. I remember that it had some small strawberries on it when they moved in. Some animal attacked the pot and it started to die back but I've since nursed the plant back to health. But it has 5 leaves per stem…? Done a bit of online searching which suggests 5 leafed strawberries are rare but not unknown. Is this something else?

5 lobed leaves are quite rare and are usually a descriptor of a couple wild varieties although they usually have 3 primary leaves with a couple smaller auxiliary leaves.
[Here is a link to a post I made about my oddities.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Horticulture/s/cnpD4Yr3YB)
I’ve isolated mine to propagate stolons. The trait shows itself in every daughter plant I get when I encourage the runners.
Any chance you’re on Vancouver Island? Curious to know if it’s a localised mutation.
Edit: To add, if you’ve researched 5 lobed strawberries, you likely already came across my post. Heck, when I was trying to delve deeper, I was getting hits on my own posts. Even Google’s AI was throwing my own content back at me.
