Wish we could do more but the city would get involved. This is the 3rd year of this mini meadow, so far still cutting out chunks of grass and replacing with more natives. Have multiple milkweeds, goldenrod, rattlesnake master, monarda, yarrow, verbena, coneflowers and native grasses. Slowly adding more.

Can you put a little fence around it and make it an art piece? You might be able to get away with another island somewhere else
I really like how you’ve squared it off and mowed it as a border.
Another trick is putting a ring of mulch around it to make it look like a deliberate garden. It will help with the city. If you go for a larger area, make a walk way in the middle out of mulch. You still get your meadow, but your neighbors get the hint that you aren’t just letting your lawn go
