This picture is from last year where apple and pear rootstock were planted on one of our plots. On this plot we testing different fruit varieties. We had students at the lecture, and we talked about how important the choice of rootstock is when fruit is grafted. We talked about disease resistance, how much water this rootstock needs and how the grafted fruit on this rootstock tolerate periods without water.
