Came home Friday to the gas company marking underground lines in my yard. Hoping they don’t have to tear up to much of the lawn to do whatever it is they’re working on tomorrow.
I’m only posting this because I’m sure my wife is tired of me looking out of the window and sighing/worrying about damage that may not even happen.
Happened to me last year. Came home to find them marking and took the next day off to meet the guys digging. Brought them lemonade, wife made cookies and explained how much time and energy went into the yard. They took extra good care of the pieces they dug up and placed everything back perfectly. Yard healed a couple weeks later and now you’d never know the difference.

if they werent digging your yard they would have only sprayed the street and sidewalk. you sir, are going to have a good cry tomorrow evening. let it all out.
in the meantime, order some seed. buy a few concrete mixing tubs and fill with soil. plant your seed and grow your own sod. perfect match.

I ran gas for 15 years. If they are replacing the service, they are gonna at least dig up where the T is behind the curb. If the ground is good, they can shoot a “mole “ from there to where your service comes up, and not touch your lawn.

Should you water or not?

Just happened to me for fiber (which I am excited about) but they totally screwed my hard work. Not sure why they dug right through the grass instead of using an edger to cut up the section of grass so it could be put back down. I would have done it for them. 🙁

This happened to me when the lots across the street from us were finally built on. The gas company dug a huge hole, did what they needed to do to connect the houses, pushed the dirt back and threw down some K31 seed and maybe half a bale of hay.
