This is the typical basil from the supermarket that only ever produces tiny leaves and keeps looking like it wants to die.
And then one day, this grows.
Is it what it looks like?
I’ve been watering the basil with water feom washing vegetables, so a pepper seed *might* have dropped in the water.

That’s a pepper growing on your pepper

That is a pepper growing on your pepper plant, in your other comment you mentioned maybe a pepper seed falling in there, that’s most likely what happened

What puzzles me is that these are still basil leaves growing from that same last surviving branch.
At least they still look and taste like basil and it’s only been that sungle branch.
Assia_Penryn
It looks like a pepper seed got mixed into your pot. That’s definitely not basil.

I bought this basil plant a few years ago.
We have this one surviving branch that has been giving us sporadic basil leaves ever since.
Just that one branch left, but giving us basil leaves since day one.
Then a few months ago, from that same branch, that growth started to show up, amongst the basil leaves that still look and taste like basil.
I looked up online if a pepper could come out of a basil, and what I got was “no, so it’s either a parasite or a tumour”.
But it really looks like a pepper, hence I’m asking, could that be a pepper from that (yes) basil branch.

That isn’t basil

Was there a flower before there was a pepper? If so yeah it’s a pepper, wldnt be a growth. But based on the leaf pattern and general growth of the plant it looks like a pepper plant lol

Worst tasting basil ever.

That’s the most Solanaceae looking basil I’ve ever seen.

Jesus Christ. Poor thing is just trying to live its best life while OP picks its leaves off and makes it weaker and weaker. It finally makes a pepper and now you’re thinking it has a tumor.
Give that poor thing some nutrients (start slow) and gradually acclimate it to outdoor life and STOP EATING THE LEAVES.
I swear to god if some natural disaster wiped out life as we know it so many of you mofos would starve to death.
Also, OP buy some actual basil and taste it.

I love posts like this one here where the OP is such an argumentative dumbass that he argues not only against everyone commenting, but he argues against good sense, fundamental logic propositions, he argues against the reality manifesting in front of him, he argues against mother nature he argues with everything and never once stops to think that maybe just maybe he is just the dumbest person he knows

I can’t wait to see this one on r/plantcirclejerk I’m seriously shocked that you’ve been eating pepper leaves and not noticing that they don’t taste anything like basil.
dmac591
Mental that you’ve been pepper leaves thinking they’re basil for years and then when a pepper grows you come to the conclusion that it’s a “tumour”.
No words.

I’m not going to say they are laughably different, but that’s not what basil leaves look like in my experience.
