Welp it happened to me… guess I’m in the market for a new spreader.

Rip Scott’s spreader. May it rest in peace

A hand crank spreader would be perfect like a little Wizz for this size yard

I’m here to see what people recommended because I was ready to go to Home Depot next week to get the same one.

Depends on what you are looking for. They have power spreaders too. The best of the best is lesco, a more affordable option is echo

I have a hand spreader powered by a battery pack of my power tools. Works great. Before I had some similar ones with batteries.

  6. Lawn newbie here, could someone please explain “what happened” and why a new spreader is necessary?

I like a broadcast spreader set at half the recommended setting and crisscross the yard.

  8. I read a pretty good tip recently that I’m going to try next time: Measure out your yard and load your spreader with the right amount, so if you have 2500sqft pour half a 5000sqft bag in. Then set the spreader on the lowest setting (ignore what it says on the bag). Just keep walking rows in multiple directions until you run out of product. It’s supposed to give you a more even distribution.

I also think it’s better to err on the side of using less product than specified to avoid the risk putting down too much.

Can someone link the most recommended lesco for a lawn that’s roughly 800 sq. Ft?

The big black Scotts doesn’t do this but it’s not on the same level as some of the others mentioned.

  12. You just need to walk fast enough that the granules go over the wheels instead of into them
