It’s one and done for Grosse Pointe Garden Society, which has been cancelled at NBC, our sister site Deadline reports.
The murder-mystery drama was the last show from the 2024-2025 TV season still awaiting word of its fate at the network, which made most of its renewal and cancellation decisions ahead of unveiling its schedule for the 2025-2026 season in May. There was talk of the series possibly moving to sister streamer Peacock, but that option proved to be a no-go for the little-watched drama.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society — which joins Suits LA, The Irrational, Lopez vs. Lopez and Night Court among NBC’s recently axed shows — starred Melissa Fumero, Aja Naomi King, Ben Rappaport, AnnaSophia Robb, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis and Felix Wolfe. It followed “four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and a shared secret – a murder no one wants to talk about,” reads the official description. “As dark truths begin to rot their lives under the surface, they struggle to remain as perfect as the flowers blooming in their garden above.”
With no second season, there will be no resolution to the Season 1 finale cliffhanger, which left fans to question who was inside the duck costume at the garden club’s Halloween party and what they had done that prompted gardeners Birdie, Brett and Catherine to claim the mystery person broke their trust. Viewers did get, at least, get one mystery resolved: Alice discovered that it was Marilyn, the garden club’s president, and not her mother-in-law Patty, who was responsible for killing her beloved dog.
