Original plan was to have a large portion of our garden as a clover and wild flower meadow. Accidentally bought the wrong seed that turned out to only have 5% clover in. The plan now is to get as much grass mowed as I can before winter to use as mulch, along with hedge trimmings, so that I can lay it all down and get the clovers (100% this time) and wild flowers all sowed ready for next spring! 1st pic is before the first mow, 2nd is after. Excuse the lemon tree in the foreground, it's recovering.

Some decent progress made since we first moved in though (see last pic), so not all bad! Loads of peas, beans and rashish, 12 various trees planted, English bluebells sowed ready for next spring, as well as a tonne of other random plants, plus more ready to go in over the next few days.

We have really bad clay soil in our area and had a couple bad areas of sitting water in the garden when we moved in. I've since dug a few drains in, and put down a tonne of mushroom compost. Cannot recommend mushroom compost enough if you have clay soil. Can clearly see where it's started to aerate the soil and we've had no flooding since, even with some heavy days of rain. The plants all love it too!

  1. Forgot to say in the post – I’m UK based. This is only around 5 months of growth, too!

Also, yes, that is my cat. She likes to sit under the peas.
