I got this from Lidl, haven’t had a chance to repot it. Not even sure exactly the species. I don’t see signs of rot but someone else might. I water it when the top soil starts getting dry maybe a couple of times a week, it’s in the crappy soil it came in. See last photo for the light. Help please 🧎🏾‍♀️

You’re gonna need more help than I can offer, but I can tell you it’s some sort of alocasia and you are over watering. Good luck!

  2. I don’t have any worthwhile advice, I have killed every one I’ve owned. If this sub can’t provide the help you need, try posting to r/alocasia for some more expert opinions!

It’s an alocasia amazonica Polly, I think your watering it too often the top 1-2 inches of the soil should be dry before you water. You can use a moisture meter or just use your fingers to test. Then when you water fully saturate until water comes out the drainage holes and it needs more light from a window or a grow light.

If that last picture is where it usually lives, you’d be surprised at just how dark that is to the plant.
What seems like an ok amount of light to our eye is almost darkness for a plant.
I’m not saying that’s the issue with this alocasia, they’re just notoriously difficult to keep alive.

  7. Just place it near whatever window gotz sunlight all thru mornin time and goes away round noon .. Like nearest leaf should be a foot away from window

Top it with a teaspoon of miracle gro shake n’ feed (the one with worm shit and kelp) from Lowe’s like 8-9$

Water with for real filtered water not tap and make sure it’s room temp and add a sprinkle of epsom to gallon of water you like prefilled maybe 1/4 tsp shake dissolve it well water with some 1-2 X a month outta 3-4 Alocasia need extra magnesium occasionally besides what is in the once every 3 months fert I suggested

that’s bout it really rotate plant every week or two thoo too.. coo

Not enough light, shitty soil, WAY too much water. You should repot it into a VERY well draining pot, and either find a really good chunky soil mix or make your own with things like coco coir, orchid bark, leca, perlite, etc. There’s probably a thread about a good soil mix for a Polly somewhere in r/alocasia, but basically there should be hardly any actual soil in the soil mix

  9. Omg Lidl has the best plant section! I got a string of turtles there last summer for like $5 and it’s still thriving.
