What is this on my VSOH? It’s connected to the plant.

    a closer or higher quality photo would help, but i think it could be either some fungus sprouting or some terracotta fragments that are often used in houseplant potting soil.

    you say it’s connected to the plant – do you mean that it’s part of the plant, or that the roots are clinging onto it? SOH is an epiphyte, so the roots are good at “holding” things. a quick checkup on the roots & nodes under the soil should tell you

    it looks like a tuber, which is part of the plant. More strings will grow from the tubers.

    I agree it looks like a tuber, which is similar in purpose to rhizomes in other plants if you’re familiar. It will grow roots and start another string, you can leave it under the soil in this pot to help fill it out or after it grows roots you can separate it from the mother plant to propagate.
