Posted three years ago when I got my lawn removed and turned into a pollinator garden. We had a rough first few summer and lost a lot of stuff, plus irrigation that wasn't quite right, so last year I redid a lot myself and used Colorado's garden in a box program to put in more new plants last year. Added a lot more colors and variety, watering is consistent now, and seeing some solid growth. We have an 18 month old who loves wandering through it and sniffing all the flowers, plus she plops down every morning to watch the bees in the foxgloves and catmints.

Overall a big pain to get established, but still so worth it. Hoping it'll be overgrown and wild in three more years 🙂

  1. I should probably add that this is during my spring to summer transition, so not as many flowers as usual.

Looks wonderful and great job seeing it through challenging times! Love the detail about your kid. Mine love going out into our newly planted native yard to watch beetles and it brings me such joy seeing them enjoying the natural world like that.
