LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Allen County Children’s Garden received some much-needed tender loving care Friday morning, thanks to a team of volunteers from Rea & Associates.
As part of the company’s annual Impact Day, 13 employees spent the morning assisting the Allen County Master Gardeners with various projects throughout the garden. Volunteers took on tasks such as weeding, trimming, planting, mulching, and even cleaning the garden’s gumballs and decorative piano keys.
This marks the second year Rea & Associates has teamed up with the Master Gardeners to help spruce up the Children’s Garden.
“Our Impact Day is a day that all firms across Ohio get together and we go and volunteer somewhere locally, and just to, you know, show that we’re involved in our community and how much we care, and to just get our name out there,” said Cheyenne Skinner, an accounting specialist with Rea & Associates.
Gretchen Staley, with the Allen County Master Gardeners, says having volunteer groups like this makes a big difference.
“It is invaluable to our program to get these groups of businesses and volunteer groups to come support our work here at the garden,” said Staley. “It’s a huge undertaking, and any time we can get extra hands, it just is so helpful to how the garden gets set up and looks beautiful.”
With all the help, nearly 60 man-hours of work were completed by late morning.
