I love this shrub – it’s evergreen, gives off a beautiful fragrance that fills the garden for all of summer and most of autumn, and the Bees love it.

Mine is growing in clay soil in partial sunlight.

  1. Do you know what variety that is? I love my Daphne and the scent but my cultivar only flowers in the spring

  2. Yay – I got a cutting of this over 30 years ago. It’s huge now and fills the garden with wonderful scent. I’d love to know which one it is because try as I might I can’t get it to propagate. tThe lady I got it from said she found babies round the bottom go the adult plant but no luck for me and cuttings haven’t rooted 😔

Is it a strong, perfumy fragrance? I have a gap where I think one would look lovely, we also have clay-ish soil, but strong perfume like scents trigger my migraines unfortunately so I have to be a bit careful about planting anything too strong!

What does it smell like? Because I have a piss tree (Rowan) in my garden and could really do with something to counteract it
