Hi! I’m new to this plant and I was told to keep it covered while it got new roots. Someone gave me a few cuttings off their plant. I put it in a pot and covered it with some clear Saran Wrap under my grow light. I make sure it’s moist always but not too much and I went to look at it this morning. Are the white things new roots? Am I doing this right?

  1. Looks like a happy string of rubies to me. Those are roots, you can use little paper clips or push into the soil and it will keep rooting and fill itself out.

I’m in the process of nursing a sad tiny stand back to health myself and waiting for the stems to look thick and dark like yours! I’ve also found sticking a leaf or two into the soil face down (still attached to stem) will root eventually as well. Good luck!
