It’s kind of fragile and sheds leaves a lot. I am wondering if it’s normal or am I lacking something. She is in living room with no direct sunlight.

its coleus it goes outside in the shade. some people have them as houseplants but they probably have them in a south/west window (the high light areas for houseplants).

Mine needs a lot of sunlight and prefers warmer temperatures
However, direct sunlight will definitely burn it since it’s so fragile (almost lost mine 2 times)

A light watering weekly, talk softly 1st sign of yellow or wilt move to a different location till you find the perfect light. Good luck. Its just beautiful!

Mine used to like water a lot, but you’ll see it for yourself. This can be a very dramatic plant. And if you put it outside, bring it back inside when it gets cold. Forgot mine and now it’s gone..

Start from whatever conditions it was grown in (guessing outside in the shade based off how tight and plentiful the foliage is). Then when you want to / need to move it or change conditions, do it slowly.
Also quarantine any outside plant when you bring it inside. There’s a lot of stuff that keeps pests at bay outdoors that you won’t have indoors.

Mine did ok inside under grow lights but thrive outside getting bright light most of the day and shade around midday

Lots of sun, lots of water.

Morning sun, afternoon shade and trim, and trim, and trim again (prop trims, then later? Trim them)
