Hello, I have a small elm tree in my back yard that the green leaves have suddenly turned brown in color. I still see some green leaves left but I'd say most of them have turned brown. They appear to be curling and then turning brown. What could cause this?

Dutch Elm Disease is a strong candidate but would require lab confirmation.

  2. If you’re in a region with Dutch Elm Disease, its almost certainly that.

  3. Assuming you’re in North America, if it dies, replace it with an American elm of the Princeton cultivar. They’re 85% resistant to Dutch Elm Disease and you can order them online. Also extremely fast-growing, like 5 feet per year.
