im not completely certain that this is the issue but if it’s near those bananas all the time they are definitely causing a problem

  2. could these be scorched from too much direct sun exposure or damaged due to Extreme temperatures? do these leaves face the stove or possibly a window? maybe they were touching the windowpane directly or are in the line of a cold draft

The plant (Monstera adansonii) looks fine otherwise so I’d assume its just lossing a leave here and there which is totally normal. Bananas underneath can definitely be a problem for this specific leave though.

Bananas make plants and other fruits rot I think , so maybe either that or sun damage?

Bananas release ethene gas as they ripen causing other fruit to ripen and rot, it has a similar effect on plants and can cause flowers to bloom faster and leaf necrosis

Bananas will make nearby plant material rot.

If it always sits there, it could be the Ethylene gas coming off the bananas messing with it.

Are those bananas for scale? I have one and sometimes some leaves will turn yellow, but turning black I assume because of fungus or pest.. Check for pests first, I’d just pull that leaf from the main node and maybe spray some fungicide and pesticide.. Dont overwater too, and too much direct sunlight might scorch the leaves..

Anyone else here just for the plant defenestration threat?

I’m a certified banana hater for other reasons, but it’s the bananas.

I’m decently good at plants and my swiss cheese plant looks the same I vote I got a bad one to begin with because it really was terrible when it arrived I had ordered it in the mail but yeah that plant doesn’t like me I have no tips I’m just here commiserating in solidarity

My first thought when I looked at this was that it’s the bananas/fruit bowl off-gassing ethene.

Immediate thought is that it is the bananas.
