Location :Vancouver British Columbia.
I started this lawn off 12 days ago. Brought in 6" of turf type soil. ( Too much bark additive in my opinion).
Seeded with a Sun/Shade mix of perennial rye and fescues.
I put about 25% more seed than what was recommended on the bag.
Seed germinated in 5 days, but I'm starting to see maybe some thin patches.
What do you guys think?

  1. Good work so far. You’ll always need to overseed new lawns. Maybe several times.

It’ll thicken up as the plants mature. Each grass seed is going be a small toonie sized patch of many grass blades. I’d wait to see how things go before adding more seed. Plus, you want to train the existing grass to grow deeper roots asap, since summer is coming. You’ll need to reduce the watering frequency to do so, which is not conducive for germinating new seed.

Took me a couple of seasons to get a perfect lawn. Re-seed in the fall and next year it will look amazing
