Maybe time to reconsider mower choices for small yards.

Good clip but it is a young man vs old man.

Thought he was going to snag that other guys ankles!

Mower is pretty much done though. That grass may be a littler longer than I’d mulch, but those clipping should be chopped enough to be good to go.

Scythe has big ol’ trimmings to do something with.

One of them still has to rake up all of those clippings

Really depends on your relationship with your back

  6. -_-Notmyrealaccount

Except one will destroy your back and exhaust you after 1/8 acre, while you MIGHT break a sweat with the other.

The video misses the close up view of the totally uneven cut and the part where they clean up after. The mower has a bag that easily dumps into a garbage can. The other guy has to rake that up, then scoop it into the can. To think it’s better to own a scythe over a mower for basic lawn mowing is hilariously stupid

If I had a little lawn like under 1K, I’d use a reel mower with a sharp bed knife and a striping roller and do it every other day.

    John Henry type shit

    Remember how that story ended?

Mower still wins. The scythe cut the grass but now you need to rake it up so the job isn’t done.

I think people overlook the health benefits of simple yardwork. I have 1/3 acre yard and opted out of a self propelled mover when I recently had to get a new one. Exercise is good for you. That said I’m not getting a damn scythe even if it is cool AF.

If your yard is that small just get a push reel mower, tbh. The scythe is kinda cool but also very cringe. Unless you’re harvesting wheat or some shit, the scythe is basically just a novelty hipster workout machine lol.

  13. Let me know how that thatch works out for ya scythey.

This is that Jake Paul fight all over again. Why don’t you break the old guy’s kneecaps to make it a little more interesting.

  15. Same time, but I gottta work 4x harder AND be half my age?

  16. BeerJunky

Okay but I’ll hit my insurance deductible in 7 seconds.

There is a Russian family that lives in my neighborhood that uses that same tool for all weeds (2 acre lot!!)

  18. ThaDollaGenerale

I’ll convert when they make a mulching blade scythe.

Dang if only their was something in between a scythe and it’s like weight and and a mower and it’s spinning blade, we could call it a string trimmer or weed eater

Meh mowing with an engine is enjoyable. Using a scythe not so much.
