I giggled when you showed the little hatchet to chop the tree. All the crawling weeds. A job for sure. Nice video. The roses are beautiful ❤
What a beautiful location you have. What gorgeous roses, so happy for your success. The 'watermelon' fiasco was hilarious. Well done. 🇨🇦
u look ancient bro
I'm happy that you're intelligent … @12:30 " … the forest wizard / hermit aesthetic … "
Oh no! Your watermelon vine!
I planted squash seeds one year thinking they were Butternut. The squash I got was round and green, nothing like Butternut, but I was introduced to Kobocha squash! So delicious, now my favorite ❤
Great tips for soil health in here. Cheers
Your channel is so unique! Everything you do is thoughtful, creative and engaging. Definitely one of the best on YouTube.
You always look so dashing 😳😳
I grow a wild veggie forest every year, it seems. I've never been able to make my plants behave and go into nice clean rows. I usually resort to using old branches for support after throwing in several tomato cages and wire frames. But I can see the beauty in the wildness. It is beautiful to see the fertility of the land manifest itself into tasty snacks.
Using that hay fork or a potato fork is not the easiest way to clear ground but it is cheap and it gives you a great workout.
Sorry, you've created a magnificent experimental veggie garden, but this is not what I would call a food forest (despite correctly describing forest layers early in the video).
I do appreciate how rambunctious and productive it is, though. Keep adding structure, and embrace perennial edibles!
I would suggest cutting all your fruit tree to a suitable height to be able to harvest the produce without having to get onto a ladder .
Lovee your food forest! I am in the middle of growing mine and gardening is so addictive! Keep up the great work! 🙌💚🍓
Lovely video, even if your food forest was a wee bit ugly. I’ve grown a food forest and made it pretty, I made islands around the fruit trees… so each tree had a somewhat round veggie and flower patch around it. Well until the squash went crazy and took over, but it looked nice for most of the season. Looking forward to future videos 💛
Congrats on gorgeous roses and effusive vegetable growth! I used to watch an 'off grid' channel that had a beautiful food & flower garden. Might have some helpful ideas for you! https://youtu.be/v0XLEdlfpFI?si=eDHsHNeACOnMfrz0 https://youtu.be/v0XLEdlfpFI?si=eDHsHNeACOnMfrz0
I have a permaculture yard. My front yard is currently a “hot mess”. My immediate neighbors don’t care for the look either. Passerby’s though love it! People constantly stop to see what I’ll do next.
Fig trees like to root bound. They do well in a large pot.
Not great in the ground… they send out shoots and can take over the entire yard. It takes a lot to maintain them.
newbie here I can't wait to binge your videos awes video ty
I've grown Minnesota midget watermelons with success in zone 5b.
lol that was funny about the watermelons. This year I have a chaos garden with lots of squashes, watermelons, okra, peppers, lots of cherry tomatoes and even bitter melon … it’s either ganjyu or big top? We live in Texas and this year we’ve been hit with lots of rain and hail in the mix. I’m looking forward to the fall gardening. It’s so humid and hot here.
So wonderful! One question: Do you worry about road pollution/chemicals (fine tire particles, lead, ect) building up in the soil or accumulating in your produce? I would love to replicate what you are doing but that is what is holding me up in my location.
Thoughts and aesthetic views from the street…
Nanking cherries are bush cherries that make big blossom shows. They are short, and can provide aesthetic, edible privacy. Underplanted with rhubarb makes for for more edible, aesthetic views. Turkish rocket adds yellow flowers and season long greenery while providing edible broccoli. Serviceberry could be alternated with Nanking cherry for spring flowers and fall colors. Seaberry can anchor ends with silvery, willow-like foliage and citrus berries.
Thank you so much for sharing.
