If you’re planning a long vacation or just aren’t into the whole plant care thing, don’t worry – experts have revealed five flowers that don’t need much watering. And no, they’re not all cacti.
The UK is known for its dreary, rainy weather, but it’s not uncommon to experience dry spells during the summer. This can be disastrous for some plants that depend on moist soil and regular hydration.
If left to dry out for too long, they can shrivel up, lose their luster, and in some cases, wilt entirely. Luckily, not all plants are thirsty for water. Many, like succulents, come from hot, dry climates and have adapted to require minimal H20.

Some common drought-resistant features include thick, waxy skins that help plants conserve water, as well as fleshy stems and leaves that store water, reports the Mirror. So, what flowers should you consider if you don’t want to water them often?
A gardening guru from Netmums shares five flowers you can plant:.

These flowers, with their vibrant red buds and yellow-tipped petals, look like daisies at a carnival. Native to the Americas, blanket flowers thrive in warm temperatures and full sun.
Once they’re established, they need very little watering. If conditions are extremely hot or dry, they may need watering once or twice a week.

These vertical purple flowers are found from Mexico to Argentina and boast a sweet, grape-like fragrance that will fill your garden. Summer snapdragons prefer full sunlight, ideally six to eight hours a day, and require about one inch of water per week during periods of no rainfall.
Lantana

Lantanas produce delicate orange and yellow flowers once they bloom. Although they are highly drought-tolerant, it’s recommended to water them once a week, especially during their growth phase.
Globe Amaranth
These flowers resemble mini globes and come in shades of pink, white, and deep purple. Due to their drought tolerance, they’re a “low-maintenance hero,” according to Netmums.
They only need watering about once a week, even in extremely dry periods.
Ornamental Purslane
If you love bright colors in your garden, the ornamental purslane is perfect, with its vibrant pink, yellow, and orange blooms. It requires minimal maintenance, and as Netmums notes: “With its succulent leaves and bright, showy blooms, this plant loves sun and hates overwatering – perfect for kids who think “watering the plants” means flooding them.”
