I replaced our front lawn with a pollinator friendly garden (zone 6b) 3 years ago. They say the first year the garden sleeps, the second year the garden creeps and the third year the garden leaps! Well it sure is leaping now! We live on a busy street so I planted the emerald green arborvitaes in the very front so they eventually become a green wall and give me some much needed privacy while I putter around. All the plants you see here I planted myself and are perennials. They were all less than half the size they are now. To fill in any empty spaces I scratch in annual flower seeds like zinnias and cosmos to make the garden even more abundant. It took a little while for it to fill in but it was definitely worth the wait. Now it's my little slice of paradise. 🙂

I love seeing this! Every night we wander our neighborhood and I notice more and more lawns disappearing. Makes me so happy to see everyone returning to nature and providing habitats.
