Sprayed neem oil on my banana plant (without doing a patch test first.. oops) and all the leaves died. I was ashamed of my mistake but couldn’t bring myself to throw her away so hid her in my spare room instead, only to find her a few weeks later absolutely flourishing without me!! Guess I’ll need to abandon my plants more often lol.

(I will be repotting the new babies into separate pots very soon)

It’s so rude of plants to never need us when we just want to help

Bananas are quite tough as long as the corm is undamaged. Root rot that spreads to the corm seems to be the only real threat I’ve found.

You’ve got Leca is the pot, so drainage shouldn’t be an issue.

You should name her Phoenix. It’s a good thing you didn’t toss the pot out!

I’ve had a ZZ plant resurrect itself after an unfortunate accident that killed all the leaves and stems. I set the pot in the laundry room with intent to dump it and forgot about it for weeks…. maybe longer. It ended up getting pushed into a corner behind some other stuff…. One day I was cleaning off the shelf and there was a lovely little 2″ tall ZZ stem with shiny leaves starting to unfurl. Plants are amazing.

If I recall, isn’t death part of the cavendish lifecycle? The plant grows to maturity, produces a batch of fruit and propagules, dies, and the propagules do the next generation?

  5. If the roots are still healthy, no plant is dead, it’s just dormant for the time being.

    🪴🤔

Banana plant shouldn’t be inside in the ac. It’s a tropical.
