GARDEN CITY, Idaho (CBS2) — A road rage incident escalated into gunfire on May 28, 2025, when Austin Viggers, riding a race-style motorcycle, allegedly fired three shots at an SUV driver during a confrontation near Glenwood and the Boise River.
Police responded to reports of gunfire around noon and found the victim at a business on Marigold and Glenwood while Viggers was near Glenwood and Riverside. The altercation began as both vehicles traveled north on Glenwood, with the victim reporting that Viggers displayed a handgun.
At the Glenwood and Riverside intersection, Viggers maneuvered between cars and pulled alongside the SUV. The victim opened his driver’s door, causing Viggers to fall over. As the victim fled, Viggers allegedly fired three rounds, striking the SUV’s windshield.
Viggers was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, a felony. He is scheduled for arraignment at 1:30 p.m. on May 29.
“This senseless incident could have ended with an innocent person being shot,” said Chief Cory Stambaugh. “As the valley has grown, traffic congestion has increased. Please be patient in your travels, and if you feel you are the victim of a road rage incident, call the Police.”
The Garden City Police Department reminds citizens that lane splitting is illegal in Idaho.
