Olive Garden has made a new change to its employee uniforms at some of its 934 restaurants, according to Reddit users.

Olive Garden is known for its employee uniforms, which differ from most, as waiters and waitresses are required to wear an all-black set with an olive green apron.

According to Reddit users in the subreddit olivegarden, the chain is making a new change to its employee uniforms, and a lot of people aren’t happy about it. Instead of the all-black uniforms, some Reddit users claim the chain is asking employees to switch to a white top and blue jeans with a green apron.

“If your store is like mine and implementing the new uniform change soon, where are you getting your white button-ups?” a user wrote in the subreddit.

Some of the Reddit users in the group, which boasts over 18,000 members, took to the comments to express their frustration over the change.

“White shirts are terrible for the food industry…” one user commented.

“Before the went to the black uniforms they had white shirts, black pants, and white apron. I used to get my white shirts from JCPENNEY. White sucks. They get stained so bad. Black didn’t have a problem,” another commented on the post.

“No, don’t tell me that I’m scared it’ll happen at mine,” said a third.

“Unfortunately, I’m sure it’s going to happen. I can’t imagine the company would let half the restaurants wear one uniform and the other half of restaurants wear another. My location has been talking about it for a year, and it’s finally happening at the end of the fiscal year (aka June),” another wrote in the comments of the post.

Another user in the same subreddit discussed the uniforms, questioned whether employees could go on strike due to the recent change.

“Can the employees of OG go on a strike due to the white shirt uniform. I’ve bought over 15 white shirts and it has been getting messing and tearing up. Also, the white shirts are more expensive and difficult to find than black shirts,” the Reddit user Honest-modest wrote.

“No, bc we’re not unionized. If people start “protesting”, they start firing/replacing,” another user commented on the post.

“I literally asked my manager what will happen if im not for the uniform change, she looked me dead in the eyes and said “then you won’t have a job”. So yeah, we cant protest over this stupid uniform change. It’s tacky and ugly,” wrote another in the comments.

“I’m literally applying to anywhere else because of the uniform change. It’s the most idiot change I’ve ever heard to ask your employees to change from a perfectly respectful black uniform that doesn’t stain, to white shirts and blue jeans,” another commented on the post.
