Hiya! Hoping there are some folks here that can advise me. Phoenix is such a difficult place when it comes to plants. đŸ«€. This is my baby String of Dolphins that has been on my patio for about 6 months or so. It gets a few hours of morning sun and is so so happy. However, 100 degree days are now here and getting hotter. I’m worried to the have her outside, but have no idea how to successfully bring her in for the summer. I do have two east facing windows, but the sun really shines in them and it gets pretty intense for a few hours through those windows. It that still my best bet? I don’t think my south facing sliding door will give her any or enough direct sunlight. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!! đŸŒ±

I’m not from Phoenix, but I live in an area with equally as strong sun and slightly lower summer temps. Indoors will be good as long as you can position the plant to not touch the window and still get several hours of sun (the AC’s cooler temps should help offset too much heat). If it gets more sun in the southern window, opt for that. Mine sits in a south-facing window and gets a few hours of direct sun through the glass and it’s nearly perfectly happy (could use a bit more but is otherwise good). Really though, as long as it’s getting some direct some during the day it’ll be fine. Just be positive not to water unless it looks really thirsty.

If you can’t find an optimal place, you could try getting a ~40% shadecloth to block the worst of the sun (I’ve got one and it doubles as a shade for sun that typically roasts my apartment too!).

Worst case, if the heat is going to be too much and you can’t find a good place with the right amount of sun, you can force it into hibernation – move it from the window so it only gets some indirect light, and reduce watering significantly. Then once the temperatures cool a bit more you can return it to its usual watering schedule in

Also, that’s string of bananas 🙂 Same care, slightly different plant.
