I just moved and the garden beds are all over grow and on top of each other. I was removing shrubs and splitting hostas. I thought i would split this and think I just killed it.

Looks like a coral bell. If it is a coral bell, then plant the stem deep and keep it watered. Mine are all in a shady spot so if yours in the sun, I’d try to root it in a pot in more shade and then plant it when it’s got solid new growth.

They definitely can be split like this and take to new soil really well – I split my heuchera up and now I have a bunch! Love them, they come in so many fun colors.

If you reduce what you’ve split to have 3-4 small, short, new growth leaves coming up out of a root then you are golden. (kinda hard to see what’s going on but I’m betting you’re fine.)

Keep moist and not overly sunned.
