We got an African violet a couple months ago. It was not blooming and I made the mistake of bringing it too close to the window sunburning it. This caused the veins in the leaves to burst. I did some pruning to remove the damaged leaves. I also recently repotted it into a pot with drainage so I know it's recovering from that as well.
I only have a west facing window what you see in the picture. Because I want to keep him away from the sun, I bought a grow lamp which should arrive tomorrow. I'm noticing a lot of leaves are growing upward a little. Could I have planted him too deep in the soil? I don't want to keep messing with the plant it won't have an opportunity to recover from the many changes.
I just want to do what's best for the plant.

First thing I notice is the lower leaf stem is buried. Second is the pot is way too big. Third is the soil needs additional perlite.
I know you dont want to keep changing but if you want it to grow well, repotting it in a smaller pot with soil ammended with perlite and leveling the lowest leaf stem on pot rim helps.
