Hi everyone, sort of newish plant parent here. I’ve had my string of turtles for well over a year and for a very long time it was a happy and healthy plant. I will admit I went through a bad plant parent phase and wasn’t watering as much as I should, and noticed that some of the strings started to become discolored (pale not so green). I’ve given my turtles some much needed TLC and the new growth is coming in green and normal. Now I have an issue that the white off-colored turtles fall off anytime I move my plant. I’m at the point where I think I need to chop off the damage and let the new growth occur – just want to see if this is the right thing to do or if they will recover? Any advice is greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance!

  1. I would chop so the plant can put all its energy into the new growth

i would recommend chopping bits at a time instead of all at once. i was once told to use my nails to pinch off old growth and only do it bit by bit so the plant doesn’t go into shock. no idea if this is real plant science, but it seems to be working for my plants so far 🤷🏽‍♀️
