Honestly I don’t know what else to do and I really want to save this plant as it’s a gift from by best friend. I can’t seem to find what’s wrong with it

It looks very healthy. You want to cut back the flowers at the stem and keep it in a bright sunny spot, watering when the soil is dry. When watering, avoid the leaves (you can bottom water if you prefer.)

Also, the leaf with the brown spot should be removed entirely. When AVs are done flowering, they dry up like this. You haven’t done anything wrong.

It is a healthy plant. You do want to remove blooms as they die off, and then the bloom stems down to the base of the bloom stem when done blooming. This helps the plant produce more budding.
You also might want to remove the lowest level of leaves.
But overall it looks very healthy! 👍🏼
