As summer approaches, it’s the season of spring cleaning, and that includes finally trimming those overgrown hedges and bushes into perfect shape. A good pair of garden shears is essential for gardeners to trim bushes, shape shrubs and clean up edges, helping them achieve the aesthetic they want.
The Bosch Garden Shears EasyShear are down to £44.49 from £52.99 on Amazon. According to the retailer, these are among the online marketplace’s top-selling gardening products.
The shears are said to be an easy garden tool to use and a handy helper for small projects, as they have a two-in-one tool which allows for trimming and shaping shrubbery and grass edges by simply changing the shear blades. With an integrated 3.6V battery, the shears can last up to 40 minutes, meaning shoppers don’t have to keep stopping and starting when they are already in the flow.
When they do need a charge, it’s easy thanks to the micro-USB charging socket. The lightweight 530g product comes in the colour green to match the outdoor garden aesthetic and is made from stainless steel and plastic.
If shoppers don’t want these shears in particular, they could opt for alternatives such as the McGregor Garden Hand Shears for £6.67 from Argos. The non-stick blades that are rust resistant, have a steel blade, weigh 0.9kg and are said to come with comfortable soft grip handles.
Another option is a more expensive buy with the FLYMO SimpliShear Cordless Shrub and Grass Shear Set for £105 from Currys. This has a 200mm blade length, weighs 1.15kg, has a rechargeable battery and comes with a two-year guarantee.
The Bosch shears, however, have a 4.3 out of 5 star rating from a total of 3,690 reviews on Amazon. One shopper said: “Very handy and quick for trimming the small stuff – lavender bush, lawn edging – and saves your hands the work of using secateurs or shears. Truly a game changer in many ways. I wouldn’t be without mine now.”
Another person said: “A really handy tool. Nice and light, and easy to use.” However, others shared opposing reviews on the shears as one said: “Reasonable product, helpful for smaller shrubs but hedge trimmer needs to be a little longer for maximum impact.”
A different reviewer also found it too small for their project, stating: “Not as good as I thought it might be. Too small for some bushes.”
It’s worth noting that more than 2,200 people have rated the product five stars, with one shopper stating: “I’ve been using this for the last two years with no issues. Good quality, and good value for money. Heartily recommend.”
