CINCINNATI (WKRC) – May’s full moon is called the flower moon in reference to the blossoming springtime flowers. Here’s how and when you can spot it in the night sky.

According to EarthSky, although the moon will technically be at its fullest at around 12:56 p.m. EST, it will be visible in its full glory on the night of May 11 and May 12.

Although most Americans won’t be able to view the moon at its crest, hopeful viewers can spot the full moon on Monday night by watching the southeast after sunset on May 12. The moon will hit its highest point in the sky shortly after midnight, per the outlet.

2025’s flower moon will also be a micromoon, which is a full moon that is further from Earth than usual, making it appear smaller than a typical full moon. The flower moon is the third micromoon in a row in 2025.

The next full moon will be on June 11 and is called the strawberry moon.
