So, I posted this over on vegetable gardening, but then I realized I may get more information about this particular variety over here.
I am primarily concerned with how to separate these pepper babies. I never plant more than one seed per hole because I hear about how dramatic peppers are, so I always baby mine and don't give them a chance to be divas. I was gifted these by a customer moving out of state, she said it was a "fish" pepper.
She said they were rare, so I did a quick Google, apparently they're a "lost and found" cultivar that were traditionally used in African American communities in Baltimore and Philly for seafood dishes, hence the name. But if anyone has more information, either about the pepper itself or it's history I would greatly appreciate it!

I don’t actually have much info aside from what you said but I grew a few last year and they were variegated and beautiful looking plants. Peppers are white to green to red and edible in all phases. They were used a lot in white chowder to give it a spice but not change the colour too much from what I gathered reading about them. I gave a plant to my neighbor and she made a wicked spicy relish out of the peppers when they were green. I included a picture of one of mine from last year. They were actually one of my favorite peppers I’ve grown and extremely versatile and tasted great. Have some more coming this year.
As far as getting them separated, get the soil a bit wet (not soaking), take them out of the container as one and gently break up the soil and “tease” them apart. You need to be really gentle. A little root damage won’t be too bad but if you get them good you could stunt them or even kill them. Don’t do it dry as they are more susceptible to damage. Make sure you have soil and individual containers ready to transfer them to. Once transfered water heavily and then just let em sit for a few days. Root booster in the water can help after initial transfer. Good luck, be gentle. I find a little side to side wiggling instead of just pulling straight works well.
