I adopted this FLF from a neighbor. She’s had it for about eight years. It’s in pretty rough shape.
I’m not sure, but I think it might have spider mites – there’s webbing, the leaves have this yellow speckling, but I don’t see any bugs, and there is no webbing on the underside of the leaves. So mayyybe just dust and generally poor conditions?
I’m keeping it outside for now, away from my other houseplants. I know nothing about previous watering habits, but it was in a very bright spot (south facing window), the soil looks good to me, and the pot has drainage holes. I wanna avoid futzing with the roots until I have a care plan in place.
I wonder if it’s worth trying to fix the existing plant, or do a more radical intervention. I’m not sure what my next steps should be. I’m honestly toying with the idea to stem it 👀 but I can’t find any info online on whether it would survive without any leaves? I’m so suspicious of the leaves right now that my instinct is to just give it a full chop and have it start over, but that might be total crazy talk!
What would you do? TIA.

Absolutely can save this plant. If I were you I would chop right below last leaf. Fertilize once a week and leave in sun until new growth starts. Shouldn’t take too long. Then only morning sun until 10. It will thrive once all It’s nutrients can focus on growth
