My husband and I have had Michael the Money Tree since 2012, since he was about 1.5 feet tall. He has always thrived and hasn’t required much care or attention. I’ve always just watered him when his soil is dry and that’s always been good enough for him! I fertilize him every so often as well.
He always had so many leaves and new growth but recently, he has shown some pretty severe signs of illness or distress with lots of leaf loss. I have not changed anything about his routine and no other plants have been introduced in his room. (He lives alone in one of our spare rooms and has a lovely south facing window.)
My husband keeps saying I’ve overwatered him (once again, I’ve not changed his routine for over 13 years of having him, but I’m not ruling out the fact that I may have over done with with water) or that the bug infested poinsettia I brought into the house at Christmas has infected him. (That poinsettia was at the other end of the house no where near him and I don’t see any bugs in his dirt or on his person.)
Michael has lived a pretty long life and he means a lot to my husband and I – we have had him the whole time we have been together as a couple. Any advice will be well received. Thank you so much for any suggestions for Michael 💕

I hope Michael feels better soon!
Bump
It could be that he has grown beyond the light of the window?
The pattern of the leaves crispening at the edges reminds me of overfertilization distress. Same thing about random leaves becoming yellow while there’s new growth coming out of nodes.
