I can pretty much keep any houseplant or succulent alive. Every time I get a string of pearls (my favorite plant as far as looks are concerned), the top begins to shrivel up and dry out. I read through some other posts and saw something about bottom watering. I have never heard of that nor done it. I water at the top.

Any ideas of what I could do to save this, and how to care for it better? Google offered simple advice but all seemed like things I’m already currently doing.

Where does it live? How much light does it get?

The light needs to be focused on the TOP of the plant, not the stringing pieces that hang

If you’ve never changed the soil, it could be that it’s staying too wet for too long between watering and making the roots rot. The nursery soil that big stores use doesn’t do well outside of nursery conditions

I try to water as little as possible, but I have noticed that the soil will get VERY dry after only a few days since watering. It lives on a plant stand right beside a window, on a middle shelf. I had just pulled this plant hanger out of my attic and had planned to hang it above said window.

I water with tap water, neutral in temp. Not too cold, but not warm, either.

It was full at the top whenever I purchased, and have had it for about a month and a half. It’s progressively gotten worse 😅

This is from being watered too frequently. Are you letting the epidermal windows close prior to watering?

With this plant a lot depends on the position. It’s really difficult to find a position that it likes. If you succeed it’s a game changer.
