I just saw a post on here asking if certain containers were food safe and now I'm worried about my blueberries…

I planted two highbush blueberry bushes last summer in these big plastic utility tubs from Menards. https://www.menards.com/main/storage-organization/storage-totes-bins/storage-totes/edge-plastics-black-utility-tub/2023-0508/p-1642874266886249-c-12667.htm?exp=false I had to get those because I'm disabled, can't work, and thus very poor. They were my cheapest option for a 20+inch diameter container.

This coming summer is the first time they'll fruit while in these containers. Is it safe to eat the blueberries these plants produce? I looked up and down the website I linked a bunch and the only thing I can find is that the type of plastic is "polypropylene plastic". I googled it and I guess some polypropylene plastic is food safe and some isn't so IDK. I'm scared now lol.

Thanks in advance for the help!

(Both of those pictures are from summer of 2024.)

I couldn’t say personally, but I will say I like to use Grow Bags. Easy to move and transport, no sloping sides, so no wasted vertical space that could be there for root growth. Also grow bags are super affordable. A 12 pack of 10 gal is $20.

I use to grow my jalapeños in 3gal plastic pots from the dollar store for years, made lots of hot sauce with it. I like to think im all there. 😇
