Hi all!
So I have this fig I’ve been growing for a couple years now, I started this one from about 2 feet high so it’s grown quite a lot, the ceiling is a little over 9 feet here.
The thing is I have no idea what I’m doing and I’ve never had “chopped” any figs or anything. But now it’s getting to a point that it has a somewhat thin trunk and definitely touching the ceiling if I support it upright.

Should I cut it down? Ive also hear about growing it along the ceiling, how could I do that?
I tried notching before when it was shorter but it didn’t take which is why I haven’t chopped it yet

There’s two issues here: the lean towards the window, and the fact that it’s hitting the ceiling.

For the lean, you can place it directly in front of the window and turn it so it’s leans away from the window. That way over time it corrects itself.

For the height, like you mentioned, chop and prop is the best! Simply cut it at a desired height, keep only a few leaves and once the cut end dries, leave it in water.

I’d suggest chopping half of stem(may put this cutting in water for rooting)..just a stump at 3-4 ft tall..it’ll bud again in several weeks+..
May is coming..that’s better to do it asap

Btw,putting the pot on plant stand/stool/table..etc.,and move it closer to window..Flf is tropical plant,it needs sunlight so much

If it was mine, id chop it at the same height as the window sill. That will give the tree the most light for as long as possible before it hits the ceiling again.

Then I’d move it right in front of the window it’s leaning towards.

I’d chop it at the gap that’s existing, hopefully it will branch
