Hi all 🌞

I was given this fiddle leaf 12 months ago when a sibling moved overseas Since then, it has more than doubled in height (how is beyond me), and is now incredibly hard to care for. As you can see, it is one leaf away from touching the roof.

I repotted it approx. 6 months ago (spring in NZ), and think I need to repot it again, this time to a bigger pot (?), and perhaps should look into getting a special fertiliser for it. I’ve heard of people being able to get it to branch off, and perhaps I should look into that. It’s not currently in a draining pot, purely because repotting this fiddle is not easy and took my hips out last time haha, but that is high priority right now.

Honestly, I feel out of my depth and don’t know what to do for it as it is now the tallest it can get in my house, and don’t want it to stressed or what not. We are mid autumn in New Zealand, and I know it’s typically better to do any big changes/adjustments—such as repotting, pruning, moving—in spring and summer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and would help significantly. Thank you ✨

If you want to keep its height and more branches..you just “always” pinch terminal buds off..more buds will grow along the stem..stem also grow thicker
