We found this used bucket. Cleaned it up as much as could. A very fine amount of soy sauce residue can still be seen inside the bucket where the red arrows point. Is this safe to use for container gardening? we're thinking of planting carrots, onions or potatoes in it. tia!

It’s a food-safe container, yes. Add holes to the bottom for drainage. Enjoy!

Perfectly safe. There is not enough soy sauce (salt) residue left to hurt any plant going in there.

  3. Safe from a gardening perspective.

Only problem is that these are not UV resistant plastic. So they would not last too long and most probably deteriorate after one or two years in the sun.

Tiny residue is not an issue at all. It’s a perfectly capable container.

Supposedly you might be able to chat with some shops using food containers ( eg frosting, pickles, soy sauce, etc) and get more free buckets too, so give it a try if you are going for a 5-gallon bucket garden.
