Got this as a rescued clearance find because I thought it was so pretty (posted awhile back for an ID,) but every leaf on this thing was curled or crispy and I had no idea calathea leaves didn’t really “bounce back” like some others 😂 So we are now here and I’m hoping I limped her along in just enough time to make a comeback?
There is a new leaf coming out, and potentially a new shoot? Can calatheas survive on that much being cut back? Any tips or tricks appreciated, I just really don’t wanna kill this baby 😮💨

I would remove the bark chips that are on top of the soil.
I have this exact calathea (a medallion?), bought it as a rescue. She didn’t like having her last two leaves being sprayed down for pests and repotted. Died back completely. Now, a month later she is sprouting new, pretty leaves. The fact that you have new growth already is a good sign, I think. Give her some time and she’ll grow back
Awesome!! 👏🏼
Do those cups have drainage holes? You absolutely need that in an aroid mix.
She needs humidity and bottled or distilled water. And good vibes and words of affirmation.
If you have drainage, she should bounce back.
High humidity and distilled water and she’ll come through. Cut off the uggo parts of the leaves, they’re not doing anything for her. Singing songs to her about how beautiful and lovely and precious she is is an absolute must if you want her to thrive, no exceptions.
