Lessons learned: Marathon, not a sprint. Get a soil test and bring it to a local garden center. Adjusting PH should be your first step. If your PH is off, then your fertilizer, seed, preemergents, etc. will not be as effective.

Apply spring pre-emergents when the 5 day average soil temps are in the 50-55F range. Or use [this tracker](https://gddtracker.msu.edu/).

If you have a question about pre-emergents, read the entire label. If you still have a question, read the entire label again.

Pre-emergents are used to prevent the germination of specific weed seeds. They don’t kill existing weeds.

Most broadleaf weeds you see in the spring can’t be prevented with normal pre emergents. You’d need to apply a specialty broadleaf pre emergent in the FALL.

Congrats on the lawn but shame that the tree had to go in the process

  4. Ah adjusting pH. My soil 2 years ago was 8.2 pH. I added 5 pounds of elemental sulfer per 1000 sqft twice a year since then (so 20 pounds total per 1000 sqft). I took another soil test a couple weeks ago now… the pH is 8.2 😐 lol

Is it just the angle or did you do some serious leveling after the tree came out? It looked like a cliff in the first picture and looks much more reasonable in the 2nd. Looks great!

It’s probably just the angles, but

did you fill in your lawn with tons of new dirt? It looks flatter/higher in the second pic.

    Nice job, btw
