My son is 20 and helps outside alongside me more than I helped my dad, which is awesome. Father and son bonding can be hard sometimes. Anyways, he had the day off and I wanted to level out some holes in the lawn to make mowing a bit easier this summer. He was egar to get help and I told him to take the trailer and get 4 yards. 2 compost and 2 sand. Spread it then use our drag to smooth it all out. I would be home later and we can finish it up together.
Well, the telephone game was played and by the time he got to the landscaper it was "compost mix." OMG all those rocks?! I told my son that you have to ask exactly for what you want and if there are questions ask… We all learn from our mistakes so let's learn together. How to fix this. Also I plan to ask the landscaper supply if there is normally this many rocks in compost mix. Maybe I can get some credit but I don't expect any.

How would you get all these rocks out of your lawn?

A rake.
A rake and a bucket.
Get an acorn roller.
Have any other kids that can help? Buckets and racks for everyone! Couple cases of beer and some burgers in the grill. Invite the buddies and make a fun day?
Power broom. Quick and easy
Neighborhood kid. X cents per rock. Bonus if they finish the job.
Power broom and a shop vac. Make sure the shop vac hose is large enough for whatever you are working with (think acorn vs walnut sizing).

So this might sound odd, but I’ve done this to clean the scruff from the bottom of angered fence post holes and ditch witch trenches…a really good shop vac. You’ll need one with really good suction power to pick up small rocks. Take out the filter and empty often or you will collapse the wheel mounts. I actually took the wheels off the shop vac I use to do his. It works pretty well.
Shop-vac and an extension cord
I think a landscape rake. Power broom will create projectiles. Shop vac may work, depending on the hp of the vac and the size of the rocks etc.
The same thing happened to me a while ago. I used a lawn leveler. The one that I bought was a drag behind style that I pulled with a small garden tractor. There is also a lawn leveling rake, but I’m too old for that! Just search lawn leveler in your search bar. Good luck!

My 2 year old son likes to pick up the rocks in my yard and hand them to me. He does not eat them. Does not eat them. The reason I’m letting you know that my son does not eat them is because I posted this already and Reddit removed my comment for suggesting that it is unsafe to eat rocks. it is. It is unsafe to eat rocks and my two year-old son does not eat them. He hands them to me.

Rock hound.
I had to do this a couple weeks ago. The snow plow and snowblower threw rocks all over my lawn. I picked them all up with my hands and a bucket. Took a couple of hours without any breaks. Getting my driveway paved this year. Fuck gravel.
My dad made us pick up rocks as punishment. So my answer is, child labor.
All joking aside we cleared up all the rocks so grass to grow and it was super boring putting all them in a 5 gallon bucket for hours so I guess it worked
Definitely a paddle broom. If you have a weedwacker with expandit capabilities, pick up the attachment. They are great for this.
